i did this piece for the BLUE LUCY show COLORS. i had this idea in my head for quite sometime. finally and thankfully Chad invited me and i was able to get it out.

Dude, where’s my art?
Artist and skateboarder Dan Lasata unveils his skate-life-influenced works in his first public exhibit at Cafe Bohemia on Saturday.
The pro boarder is inspired by skateboard graffiti for his trippy, graphic images. An opening reception is 8 p.m. to midnight Saturday at the funky downtown coffee shop at 937 Central Ave. in St. Petersburg. The art will be on display through Aug. 13.

Dan Lasata moved to St. Petersburg two years ago from New Hampshire.
Dan has been painting and sketching since he received his first
skateboard at the age of seven. An avid skater, it seemed that from
that point on, he couldn’t wait to break one skateboard to get
another. Dan would spend hours looking through Thrasher magazine and
at the wall in his local skate shop mesmerized by the graphics on all
of the skateboards.
Dan went on to get sponsored and travel New England, skateboarding in
several demos for Osiris shoes. From there life has taken Dan down
many paths, which always seem to bring him back to art and skating.
For the first time, Dan will be showing off his artistic talents. By
combining painting,sketching, and skateboarding Dan has reinvented
himself in a new, energized approach to self- expression. "I was
never one to show my artwork to anyone, it was always a release of
stress, love, sadness, anger, and confusion." Dan melds these
feelings together in his work and will be "RELEASE"-ing his creative
expression/vision for/on the public at his first ever art showing.
"RELEASE", Dan Lasata's first art opening will be at Café Bohemia on
Central Avenue in St. Petersburg, FL on June 13, 2008. Doors open
8pm-12am and exhibit will run through August 13, 2009.
